MVP Information
The role MVPs play here at :piksie.com can best be described as curators. They are our product experts.
There is one point that we cannot emphasize enough: Knowledge fueled by passion is what makes our MVPs different. There are many different sources of product information - especially on the Internet. Our idea was not to just provide the same "cookie-cutter", sterilized information about products. The idea is to give consumers everything there is to know about products. The idea is to keep the product information dynamic and ever-improving. The idea is to make sure that :piksie.com is the best place in the world for comprehensive, meaningful and unbiased product information. This is only possible by putting people in charge... People who love the products that they themselves use.

Showcase Channel Definition and Purpose
Showcase channels can best be described as product pages that feature a single product/model and provide comprehensive, unbiased and meaningful product information and product videos. Being a marketplace, :piksie.com will also provide multiple merchants who sell the product featured on the showcase channel. Therefore, MVPs are not allowed to create showcase channels for products that are not mass manufactured and/or offered by multiple merchants.
If you manufacture/make your own products and would like to sell them on :piksie.com, you have to apply for a "Unique Product" showcase channel. This allows you to be both an MVP and Merchant for your own product(s). Such showcase channels will be marked as "Unique Product" showcase channels so that consumers understand the MVP is also the merchant for the product.
Product Models and Showcase Channels
It is important to note that showcase channels may feature a single product and single model. This can be best explained with the following example:
Apple's iPod Classic and iPod Nano are two separate products and require two separate showcase channels. They may not be presented on the same showcase channel. This is done to make sure that each "unique" product gets its own showcase channel and is presented in the same comprehensive way e.g. its own product videos, etc.
It is feasible and acceptable for an individual to become the MVP for both showcase channels as it is very likely that the individual has sufficient expertise in both products.
Responsibilities
- The main responsibility of MVPs is to create and maintain product pages called "showcase channels" that are completely truthful, unbiased and professional.
- The second most important responsibility of MVPs is to make sure that the showcase channels for which they are responsible offer the most comprehensive and meaningful information in the world for their respective products. The showcase channel for a particular product should be far better than any other source for the same product. It should be even better than the manufacturer's website. Consumers should be able to find all the information they can possibly need and think of on showcase channels on :piksie.com.
- Product information you post on :piksie must be your own material. Plagiarism is not acceptable and will cause in losing your MVP privileges. If you want to use information created by others, you must obtain their permission before you post it on :piksie.
- One of the features of the :piksie system is "Product Alerts". The purpose of this feature is to keep consumers informed about important announcements such as product recalls or update information. Therefore, it is MVPs responsibility to be up-to-date on all product information and notify consumers of such announcements in a timely fashion. However, using this feature requires great responsibility and must be used with caution. Issue product alerts in the following scenarios:
- Product's manufacturer has issued a safety alert
- Product has been discontinued
- Manufacturer has issued updates or upgrades to the product
- It is also MVPs responsibility to make sure that there are no offensive remarks posted under "Critiques" section. Only registered members can post critiques. Therefore, if MVPs find remarks that are offensive in nature, they must immediately remove them and mark the critique as "Abuse".
- Videos submitted by "Producers" appear on showcase channels only upon MVPs' approval therefore, timely handling of newly submitted videos is absolutely crucial. It is also MVPs responsibility to make sure that the videos do not contain any objectionable material and are 100% truthful.
- Showcase channels also feature "Product Questions/FAQs" sections. MVPs are responsible for posting relevant product questions in the FAQ section. Additionally, as registered members submit product questions, MVPs are responsible for responding to them in a timely fashion. These questions are strictly general product questions. MVPs are NOT responsible for customer service.
- Another great feature of :piksie.com is "Price Reports". The purpose of this feature is to provide current and 100% truthful product pricing information -- even if the best price is offered by an online/physical store other than :piksie.com. However, MVPs should be mindful about the possibility that this feature may lend itself to abuse by those who may want to manipulate consumer behavior by submitting artificially high or low prices. MVPs are expected to have general knowledge of price information about the products they manage and approve those price reports that are truthful and decline those that are misleading.
The Revenue Sharing Program
Once you become an MVP, you will have the opportunity to join the Revenue Sharing Program (RSP) and create yourself an income potential. However, the RSP program is not mandatory and you may choose not to participate in it. Please visit the Revenue Sharing Program page for more detailed information.
What you may do
- You may be in charge of up to 10 products/showcase channels. However, it is important to remember that you have to maintain a minimum score of 4.0 as an MVP for each product that you are responsible. Failure to maintain a minimum score of 4.0 may result in losing your MVP privileges for that particular product. This would also adversely affect your overall score and reduce your chances of becoming a Super MVP.
- You may be an MVP, Producer and a Linguist at the same time.
- We encourage you to link your social networking pages to :piksie.com -- especially your showcase channels
- We also encourage you to spread the word on :piksie. Growing the :piksie family is beneficial to all
What you may not do
- Let's start with the most important one: Do not sell. Be not "salesy". As you create and maintain product pages, you need to keep an unbiased approach. As an MVP, your job is to provide completely unbiased and 100% truthful information. It is not your job to sell. Keep in mind that you're not a representative or an advocate for the product even though you may feel passionate about it. Keeping product information unbiased and truthful is imperative in maintaining the credibility of product information provided on :piksie.com.
- You may not respond to any negative comments sent to you by members of :piksie.com. We encourage you to report any abusive behavior so that it can be dealt with calmly and professionally.
- You may not post any information on showcase channels that is not 100% truthful.
- You may not misrepresent a product or a company.
- You may not create showcase channels for your own products. Showcase channels are for products that are mass manufactured and sold through multiple merchants.
